HSC - Leaping Horse

This is my favourite panel in my HSC artwork. Its hanging up in my bedroom.

Reference used. The horse's colour is loosely based on a red roan.

I love the power and intensity in this one! So much fun to paint.

This piece has has a lot of emotional/sentimental significance to me, because while I was painting this was when I first really began to understand the concept of 'mixing on the pallet' and application of colour and paint. It might be hard to see in the photo, but there are so many colours all over the hind legs, belly and neck. When I painted this one, it really felt as though I'd reached a new stage in my artmaking. I was (and am!) very proud of it.

Some bits aren't too great, like the hooves, but I don't care I'm so over HSC lol.
